Ben Wolfe created Deep Blue Coffee with a clear vision for enhancing early-morning hospitality in his current line of work. Now known as Captain Ben Wolfe, chief angler of two successful fishing guide businesses, Captain Ben wanted to greet each visiting fisherman to his boat with a hot cup of premium coffee to begin the day. Rather than offering multiple brews or trying to guess each customer’s individual preference, Wolfe decided to create a custom blend that would span a variety of tastes and could still appeal to even the most discerning palate -- that of a classically trained French Chef.

Wolfe resurrected his former identity as a French Chef to team up with Higher Grounds Trading Co. in Traverse City, MI. The goal? To roast a proprietary blend of coffee using Certified Organic, Fair Trade beans that would meet his exacting standards for taste and quality. After 6 weeks of intensive testing and refinement, the Traverse City Bass Blend was created. Today, every customer that fishes with Traverse City Bass Guide Service and Manistee River Salmon Guide Service is greeted with a hot cup of this wildly popular blend to begin each day.

Excited by the resounding success of this initial blend, Wolfe endeavored to create additional blends for coffee lovers near and far. Working from the belief that every blend is a work of art, he made it his mission to offer carefully handcrafted, artisan coffees while working with an array of quality roasters. Each product in the Deep Blue Coffee line is roasted and blended to his exact specifications. Taken as a group, the suite of Deep Blue coffees consider the breadth of individual taste profiles, and seeks to become the must-have cup for every coffee lover that tries them.
